WINERIES TO THE NAZARÍES
C / REAL Nº 23, 18700, ALBUÑOL, GRANADA
At the end of the 70s, in the lands of Cerro del Gato, which had enjoyed a wine-making tradition of more than one hundred years, barely 2 hectares of vineyards survive in production. Something that will soon change ...
In 1978, Miguel Lorente planted the first variety vines from the few vineyards, all centenarians, that still remain in the region.
Around 1979, in the same Cerro del Gato, at an altitude of 750 m, he founded the Nazaríes Wineries. The first harvests are made with traditional tools, such as vertical "Archimedean screw" presses and wooden vats.
Already in 2000, a fermentation hall was built and the cellars were equipped with the latest technology. New vines of non-native varieties are also planted.
Currently we have the most advanced equipment and two large rooms: one for the transformation and storage of wines, and the other for aging and aging in oak barrels. Each one, with a capacity for 20,000 liters. The new generations of the Lorente family contribute their university training in viticulture and oenology.
The Lorente family continue working, day by day, with the same spirit of our founder, who continues to run Bodegas Nazaríes.
